“[Faith in What We Don't See]

The fundamental fact of existence is that

this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation

under everything that makes life worth living.

It's our handle on what we can't see.

The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors,

set them above the crowd.” Hebrews 11:1 MSG

Catch my breath

God, my shepherd!

I don't need a thing.
   You have bedded me

down in lush meadows,
      you find me quiet

pools to drink from.
   True to your word,
      you let me catch my breath
      and send me in the right direction.

Psalm 23   The Message

Run the Race

Willow and Ben on the trail

Therefore then, since we are surrounded

by so great a cloud of witnesses

[who have borne testimony to the Truth],

let us strip off and throw aside

every encumbrance (unnecessary weight)

and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly)

clings to and entangles us, and let us

 run with patient endurance and steady and active

persistence the appointed course of the

race that is set before us,
Hebrews 12

The Unseen

The unseen

 But we have this treasure in jars of clay,

to show that the surpassing power

belongs to God and not to us.

 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed;

perplexed, but not driven to despair;

 persecuted, but not forsaken;

 struck down, but not destroyed;

 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus,

so that the life of Jesus may also be

manifested in our bodies.

 For we who live are always being given

over to death for Jesus' sake,

so that the life of Jesus also may be

manifested in our mortal flesh.

 So death is at work in us, but life in you.

 Since we have the same spirit of faith

according to what has been written,

“I believed, and so I spoke,”

we also believe, and so we also speak,

 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus

will raise us also with Jesus and bring us

with you into his presence.

 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace

extends to more and more people it may increase

thanksgiving, to the glory of God.

 So we do not lose heart.

 Though our outer self is wasting away,

our inner self is being renewed day by day.

 For this light momentary affliction

is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory

beyond all comparison,  as we look

not to the things that are seen

but to the things that are unseen.

For the things that are seen are transient,

but the things that are unseen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4

Fully to God

Acts 20 cactus

Why must we give ourselves fully to God?

Because God has given Himself to us.

 If God, who owes nothing to us, is ready

to impart to us no less than Himself,

shall we answer with just a fraction of ourselves?

Mother Theresa

"But I do not account my life of any value

nor as precious to myself, if only I may

finish my course and the ministry that

I received from the Lord Jesus,

to testify to the gospel ofthe grace of God.

Paul, from Acts 20

Thank you

“[A David Psalm] Thank you! Everything in me says "Thank you!"

Angels listen as I sing my thanks. I kneel in worship

facing your holy temple and say it again:

"Thank you!" Thank you for your love,

thank you for your faithfulness;

Most holy is your name, most holy is your Word.

The moment I called out, you stepped in;

you made my life large with strength.”

Psalm 138:2 MSG

Knowledge of God

Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom;
   set your heart on a life of Understanding.
That's right—if you make Insight your priority,
   and won't take no for an answer,
Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold,
   like an adventurer on a treasure hunt,
Believe me, before you know it Fear-of-God will be yours;
   you'll have come upon the Knowledge of God.
